Clothing & Shoe Deals: The Stack That Actually Works

Clothing was one of the first categories this site ever covered, back when a coupon code was the whole strategy. Full price is now almost always optional if you know the rhythm of markdowns and where the cashback sits.

Know the markdown calendar

The purchase stack

  1. Click through Rakuten before checking out online, clothing retailers often run some of the highest cashback rates on the whole platform.
  2. Match a store coupon or loyalty reward on top, most brands let these stack with sale pricing.
  3. Scan the receipt in Fetch and check Ibotta for any active apparel offers.
The resale layer: for kids' clothes, outerwear, and anything worn briefly, resale marketplaces (Poshmark, ThredUp, and similar) routinely beat new-with-tags pricing by 50%+, and selling your own barely-worn items funds the next round.

Know the return window before you buy

Sale and clearance items often carry shorter or final-sale return terms. Read the return policy at checkout, not after, it's the detail that turns a good deal into a bad one.

More ways to keep your money
