Fetch Review 2026: We Scanned 212 Receipts. Here's What It Paid.

Tested with real money for 6 months

Our verdict

8.4/ 10

Fetch is the easiest savings app we've ever tested, and also one of the slowest earners. If you want zero-effort money back on shopping you're already doing, install it and never think about it. If you want meaningful grocery savings, pair it with Ibotta.

What it actually paid us

Over six months we scanned every receipt from groceries, gas, takeout and pharmacy runs. Here's a typical ledger from our testing:

MonthReceipts scannedPoints earnedCash value
February314,120$4.12
March385,480$5.48
April353,910$3.91
May366,220$6.22
June395,870$5.87
July (so far)334,640$4.64
Total21230,240$30.24

About $5 a month for maybe 90 seconds of total effort. That's the honest pitch. The special offers and brand bonuses are where power users push this higher.

Pros and cons

What we liked

  • Genuinely zero learning curve, snap and done
  • Every receipt counts, any store
  • Gift cards start at low point levels
  • Signup bonus with a referral code

What we didn't

  • Base earn rate is slow without bonus offers
  • Point values on some gift cards fluctuate
  • Notification volume is a lot (turn them off)
  • No direct cash-out to bank

How Fetch works

Snap a photo of any receipt, from any store, for any purchase, and Fetch's image recognition reads the line items and credits points automatically. No offer selection, no matching, no linking a loyalty card. Some products carry bonus points on top of the base rate, and those show up as a small pop-up after you scan. Points redeem for gift cards starting at a few hundred points, well under what most competing apps require.

How to maximize it

Scan everything, not just groceries, gas and pharmacy receipts count too, and check the in-app offers before a big shop since a handful of brand bonuses can double or triple a normal trip's points. Stacking the referral bonus with a friend's code on signup is the single biggest one-time boost. Beyond that, this app is intentionally low-maintenance, the honest advice is to let it run in the background rather than chase it.

Who should (and shouldn't) use it

Good fit if you want the lowest-effort app on this list and are fine with gift cards instead of cash. Not the right fit if you want to maximize dollars per hour of effort, in that case Ibotta or Upside pay more per action. Best used as the free layer under whatever else you're already doing, not as a standalone strategy.

FAQ

Is Fetch worth the download? Yes if you already grocery, gas and pharmacy shop like normal, every receipt counts toward something with zero extra effort. Keep expectations realistic though, it's beer money, not a second income. How does Fetch make money? Brands pay Fetch to run bonus offers and surface products through the app, and Fetch shares part of that budget back to users as points. Fetch vs Ibotta, which should I use? Both. Fetch is passive and broad, every receipt earns something. Ibotta pays more per trip but requires matching offers before you shop. They don't compete, they stack. Can I cash out to my bank? No, Fetch pays out in gift cards only. If a direct cash payout matters more to you, Upside or Rakuten fit that better.
