Book Deals: Read More, Pay Less
This page listed Amazon and Barnes & Noble book coupons in 1999. Books are actually the one category where the honest best answer is often free, legally, so we lead with that.
The free layer first
- Your library card works with Libby or the Overdrive app for ebooks and audiobooks from home, no due-date anxiety, no cost. This alone replaces most people's audiobook subscription.
- Publisher and author newsletters regularly give away the first book in a series to hook you into the rest.
When you do buy
- Check the daily Kindle deals before buying any ebook at list price; backlist titles rotate through steep discounts constantly.
- Used marketplaces (ThriftBooks and similar) beat new pricing dramatically on anything not brand new, with the trade-off being no day-one release copies.
- Click through Rakuten for new purchases at the major booksellers.
- Audiobook subscriptions: compare credits-per-dollar before committing, and remember Libby is free if your library's wait list is short enough for what you want.
The stack that costs nothing: library app for the reading habit, Kindle daily deals for the one book you can't wait for, resale for anything backlist. Most readers can cut their book budget to near zero without reading less.
